From soil to table

We take potato chips extremely seriously so that you can enjoy them to the fullest. Every time you open a bag of Maarud Potetgull, you should of course experience the same delicious taste as always. That is why we never leave anything to chance when we make the snacks you look forward to enjoying, whether in front of the TV, on the couch, at the cabin or wherever you want to enjoy crack open a bag. 

We begin as early as possible
It is all about the potatoes. We use really good seed potatoes and start the sprouting process even before they go in the soil. As soon as the soil is warm enough, the potatoes can be planted.

This happens in April in Østfold and Vestfold, and in May in other regions. That means the first potatoes are ready by late July, and the main harvest is in full swing throughout August and September.

Our factory receives around 500 tonnes of potatoes every week, and we also fill our potato stores to allow us to produce snacks all year round. 

I guess my interest in potatoes is above average!

At the factory, the potatoes are washed, peeled and sliced – either into ridged or flat chips. These are then fried in vegetable oil before being seasoned with the right spices and packaged into bags.

Like everyone else, you probably have your favourite flavour, but the most popular by far is still good old salted chips.

You need to have full control in the “boiling shed

Everything we produce is immediately packaged in bags and boxes and sent straight to our large warehouse. Here, an amazing team of people is in charge of labelling the products. Then, pallets full of products are sorted and placed using a forklift before being shipped out in trucks to all of Norway – and to your local store.

In the stores, we make it easy for you to find all of our products. We believe they deserve a prime spot on the shelves after having gone through the meticulous journey from seed potato to harvest, washing, slicing, frying, quality checking, loading and distribution.
